Work begins on the reconstruction of the gymnasium of the Ulcinj Elementary School "Boško Strugar", the value of the works is more than 300.000 euros

Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović and the Mayor of Ulcinj Genci Nimanbegu visited the "Boško Strugar" Elementary School in Ulcinj, on the occasion of the start of works on the complete reconstruction and renovation of the school gymnasium with its locker rooms and toilets, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) announced.

The department states that the value of the works is 337.598,96 euros including VAT.

"This important infrastructure project, which will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of National Education, will include the complete renovation of floor surfaces, replacement of interior joinery, renovation of locker rooms, as well as the purchase of new, modern sports equipment. The students of this Ulcinj school will be provided with quality and safe conditions for the implementation of physical education classes and sports," they said in a statement.

Jakšić-Stojanović emphasized that the modernization of school sports facilities is one of the key priorities of the department she heads.

"Physical education and healthy lifestyles are the foundation of the proper development of our children, and adequate working conditions are a prerequisite for that. I am very pleased that, thanks to this project, the gymnasium at the 'Boško Strugar' Elementary School in Ulcinj will get a completely new, modern shine that the students and teachers of this school have long deserved. Our task is to provide every school in Montenegro with infrastructure that meets the needs of modern education, and this project is another major step in that direction," she said.

The Ministry of Public Works has emphasized its readiness to implement this project efficiently and to the highest standards. Investing in schools is not only an investment in infrastructure, but also in the knowledge, development and future of our youngest children. We remain committed to creating a better and safer environment for students and teachers, because we believe that every child deserves the best conditions for learning, progress and realizing their potential.

Jakšić - Stojanović thanked Nimanbeg for his support and cooperation in the implementation of the gym renovation project.

"I am particularly pleased that today we are finally starting the implementation of this important project. Back at the meeting held in August 2024, I recognized the Ministry's readiness and commitment to support its implementation. Although the procedures required some time, today we can happily state that the work is beginning. This project represents a continuation of investments in improving the conditions for education and sports activities of students," he said.

As he added, the first step towards creating a better school environment was taken by the Municipality of Ulcinj through the Secretariat for Investments, which previously paved the school yard.

"The value of this investment was 25.000 euros and was financed from the Budget of the Municipality of Ulcinj. This significantly improved the living conditions of students and created a better space for the implementation of school activities. I am also pleased that the school complex looks more beautiful today than ever. The reconstruction of this school began with energy efficiency projects more than two decades ago, and with today's investments it is becoming an example of continuous improvement of educational infrastructure. In addition to the "Boško Strugar" Elementary School, other elementary schools in the territory of our municipality, as well as the Music School, are in need of additional investments. I am sure that with the joint work of the Municipality, the Ministry and other partners, we will continue to create even better conditions for the education and development of our children," said Nimanbegu.
