The Montenegrin Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI), adopted the Program for the Development, Modernization and Open Use of Research Infrastructure, which represents a new instrument to support the strengthening of scientific and research capacities in Montenegro.
The Ministry of Science and Technology announced that the program is aimed at improving the availability and quality of research infrastructure by developing and modernizing scientific equipment, laboratory capacities, digital tools and other research resources with the obligation to use them in an open access regime.
It is stated that three million euros have been allocated for the implementation of the Program, while 1,5 million euros are planned for financing the first year.
"Grants per individual project will be awarded in the amount of 200 to 250 thousand euros, for projects whose duration can be from two to three years," the statement says.
It is added that the Program is aligned with the Strategy of Scientific Research Activity of Montenegro 2024–2028, the Roadmap for Research Infrastructure 2024–2028 and the Program for Science and Innovation 2026–2030 and is an important step towards creating a modern, sustainable and internationally competitive research system.
"The implementation of the Program is expected to result in more efficient use of existing capacities, greater availability of modern equipment to researchers, strengthening of the country's innovation potential, as well as more intensive cooperation between science, education and the economy," the Ministry of Education and Research emphasized.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation will, as they said, announce a competition for the award of grants within the Program.
