The Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje has issued a Public Call for the procurement and installation of energy-efficient air conditioners for 2026, the local government announced.
A total budget of 100.000 euros has been allocated for the implementation of this environmental measure, and citizens can claim financial support of up to 50 percent of the investment value.
"Until the end of last year, it was possible to buy one air conditioner, for which the fixed subsidies for all types amounted to 200 euros. With the new measure, the only condition is that the air conditioner, which citizens can buy throughout the territory of Montenegro, is installed in the territory of the Bijelo Polje municipality, and applications with the receipt will be processed by the commission," said the Secretary of the Secretariat for Rural Development. He pointed out that previously it was possible to apply for one device, while now they can buy two air conditioners, and that if they purchase two of the most powerful devices, they can get 1000 euros back.
"The financial support aims to stimulate the transition to more modern heating systems in order to reduce emissions of harmful PM10 and PM2.5 particles, which are predominantly produced by the use of solid fuels such as wood and coal during the winter months," said Sijarić and called on citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase and install air conditioners.
The amount of support depends on the power of the selected air conditioner, and the maximum subsidy amounts are strictly defined: up to 200 euros for air conditioners with a capacity of 12 BTU, up to 400 euros for air conditioners with a capacity of 18 BTU, up to 500 euros for air conditioners with a capacity of 24 BTU.
