The Executive Director of the Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector (MANS), Vanja Ćalović, will be presented with the Italian "Giorgio Ambrosoli" award for integrity and protection of the rule of law, which is awarded under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy, the non-governmental organization (NGO) announced.
The official ceremony will be held on Monday, June 15th in Milan.
As announced, Ćalović received the award for "integrity, responsibility and professionalism in protecting the rule of law", especially in, as stated, unfavorable circumstances and under undue pressure.
The award is named after Italian lawyer Giorgio Ambrosoli, who was murdered in 1979 after exposing criminal financial flows linked to the mafia, which is why the recognition in Italy has a strong symbolism of defending legality, public interest, and the fight against corruption and organized crime, according to MANS.
This recognition, as stated, represents international confirmation of the many years of work of Ćalović and MANS in the fight against corruption, strengthening the accountability of institutions and protecting the public interest in Montenegro.
The event is held with the support of several Italian institutional, cultural and economic organizations, including the City of Milan, the Lombardy Region, the Milan Chamber of Commerce, the Union of Italian Chambers of Commerce, the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia Institute, the Cariplo Foundation and Confcommercio.
The award ceremony will be held at 16 p.m. on Monday. The ceremony will also be available to watch on through the Internet.
