Nine decades of Grandma Slavojka's life, the anniversary of a special life story

Employees and volunteers of the Red Cross Bijelo Polje visited Grandma Slavojka and celebrated her 90th birthday together. "On this occasion, employees and volunteers of the municipal Red Cross visited her home and brought a cake, gifts and the most beautiful birthday wishes. However, what made this meeting truly special were the smiles, hugs and a feeling of closeness that cannot be measured or wrapped in any gift," the Red Cross announced.

Grandma Slavojka, as they explained, is not only a user of the services, but also one of the first users of the "Elderly Care" program, in which she has been for almost two decades. "During all those years, she has become much more than just a name on the register, she has become part of a large humane family. Generations of volunteers and employees have grown up and changed with her, but the most important thing has remained, mutual respect, warmth and sincere joy of meeting.

"Today we celebrated more than just her birthday. We celebrated a life filled with experience, strength, dignity and wisdom. We celebrated a woman who always welcomes us with an open heart and a bright smile, reminding us that the true richness of life is not measured by years, but by the traces of kindness we leave in the hearts of others," the organization said.

Visibly moved by the surprise, Grandma Slavojka said:

"When you first came to me, I had no idea that you would become a part of my life. So many years have passed, and you still knock on my door with the same care and warmth. Thank you for not forgetting me. In these years, a person realizes that the greatest gifts are people who remember him, sit next to him and make him feel loved. Today my heart is full."

Her words reminded us once again how much attention, conversation, and presence can mean to someone.

We wish our dear grandmother Slavojka good health, many bright days, and that she continues to be accompanied by a smile that conquers everyone around her. May her coming years be filled with peace, love, and the care of those closest to her.

The Municipal Red Cross will, as before, remain by the side of its elderly fellow citizens, not only through the services it provides, but also through presence, understanding, and sincere care that lasts for years.
