In the future, the University of Montenegro will provide translations of documentation issued in languages ​​that are in official use in Montenegro.

The University of Montenegro (UCG) has adopted amendments to the Rulebook on the equivalence of foreign educational qualifications with educational qualifications at the University of Montenegro, and the most significant change relates to the method of submitting and processing documentation in the process of recognizing qualifications.

As explained in the statement by the UCG, citizens of Montenegro whose documentation is issued in languages ​​that are in official use in Montenegro will no longer be obliged to obtain and submit a translation of the documentation themselves.

For the purposes of this procedure, the University of Montenegro will provide the translation by hiring an authorized translator who meets the prescribed requirements. Exempting candidates from the obligation to submit translations of such documentation further affirms the constitutional rights of citizens, reduces administrative obstacles and improves the efficiency of the procedure for equalizing foreign qualifications, the University of Montenegro said.

For documentation issued in other languages, it will still be necessary to submit a translation in accordance with applicable regulations.

The University of Montenegro pointed out that the amendments more clearly regulate the issue of jurisdiction and responsibility in the process of testing candidates' knowledge, i.e. conducting supplementary and differential exams, and define the role of examiners as well as the procedure for proceeding after passing the exams.

A special contribution to the systematic organization of the procedure is the establishment of a more efficient way of keeping records. The University's organizational units are obliged to create and update a database of translations of curricula, programs and other relevant documentation on study programs, the statement states.

"This approach will enable the long-term reduction of the need for repeated translations, speed up the procedure and rationalize costs. The internal record system has been further specified through a clear definition of the documentation kept in the register, including notifications to examiners about the outcome of knowledge tests. With these changes, the University of Montenegro confirms its commitment to the development of procedures based on the principles of the European Higher Education Area - transparency, comparability of qualifications, academic trust and mobility of students and experts. The improved system of equalization of foreign qualifications represents an important instrument of the international openness of the University of Montenegro, contributes to greater accessibility of the academic space and additionally strengthens the quality and recognition of the Montenegrin higher education system," the statement concludes.
