Bijelo Polje: Subsidies for air conditioners have just begun, but they have been stopped

The public call for citizens of Bijelo Polje for subsidies for the purchase of air conditioners was abruptly closed after less than four days.

This support for citizens covers up to 50 percent of the purchase costs, or a maximum of 500 euros per device, with the option to purchase two devices.

The Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje has made a decision to temporarily suspend the implementation of incentive measure 2.2, which refers to support for citizens in the purchase and installation of energy-efficient air conditioners.

The reason for the suspension is the extremely high level of interest from citizens, which exceeded capacity. This measure, which was foreseen in the Program of Measures for Stimulating Rural and Sustainable Development for 2026, allocated 100.000 euros from the local budget.

As stated in the official notification of the local government, the decision on temporary suspension enters into force on the day of its adoption and public publication on the official website of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje. The Secretariat explicitly states that requests submitted on the very day of this decision, i.e. June 16, 2026, will not be considered at all.

The explanation signed by Secretary Armin Sijarić explains that the temporary suspension for the current year was due to resolving the previous issue, and in connection with the implementation of funds planned for this purpose in the municipal budget.

The key reason for stopping the submission of documents is the extremely high interest of citizens, which exceeded capacity.

The competent authority made the decision based on the facts established from official records, and due to, as specified, the large number of requests received and the need to resolve a previous issue that is important for deciding on the submitted applications.

The document was officially submitted to the Public Affairs Department and posted on the municipal bulletin board.

The Municipality of Bijelo Polje's support for the purchase of air conditioners will continue in the coming days, after they have reviewed and processed the received requests, the Municipality confirmed.
