The reconstruction and expansion of the branch unit of the "Donja Lovnica" Elementary School in the Rožaje settlement of Ćosovica began today, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) announced.
It is stated that the start of the works was officially announced by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić Stojanović and the Minister of Public Works Majda Adžović, in the presence of the President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Rahman Husović.
The Ministry of National Infrastructure and Transport said that the value of the works is 423.248 euros, and the deadline for completion is six months.
As they announced, the existing school building will be reconstructed by removing a floor and building a ground-floor building, which will contain a hall, two classrooms, a meeting room, toilets and a technical room.
"The landscaping of the terrain is also planned, which includes access paths, plateaus, a playground, green areas, driveways, as well as traffic and parking infrastructure," said the Ministry of National Infrastructure and Transport.
Jakšić Stojanović emphasized that quality education begins with quality conditions in which the teaching process takes place.
"The reconstruction of the Ćosovica branch unit is a confirmation of our commitment to creating better conditions for the education of every child, regardless of whether they live in urban or rural areas. Our goal is to provide students and teachers with a functional and stimulating space for learning and work," said Jakšić Stojanović.
As she added, investing in rural schools strengthens the development of local communities and creates better conditions for children to stay, get educated, and thrive in the environments in which they grow up.
Adžović emphasized that every child deserves to learn in a space that is safe, functional and adapted to modern educational standards.
"By reconstructing the school in Donja Lovnica, we will create better conditions for education, living and work of students and teaching staff, with a space that will meet the needs of the school today, but also of future generations," said Adžović.
Husović thanked the Government for recognizing the importance of investing in education.
"This project is of great importance for our children and future generations. By building a modern school building, we are creating better conditions for young people to learn, develop and stay in this area. This is an investment in knowledge, the future and the balanced development of our community," said Husović.
The principal of the "Donja Lovnica" Elementary School, Zilha Klimenta Bibić, emphasized that the reconstruction of the school in Ćosovica is of great importance for the improvement of education in Rožaje.
"The new school building will be the fulfillment of a long-standing wish of students, parents and employees. This is a historic moment for us," said Klimenta Bibić.
