Seawater at Montenegrin beaches is of good quality, sanitary, and safe for swimming and recreation, the Public Company for Coastal Zone Management announced, citing the results of a seawater quality analysis for 114 locations, conducted by the Institute of Marine Biology between June 08 and 11 this year.
"The results of the analysis showed that at 79,8 percent of locations, seawater was of excellent quality, at 10,5 percent of locations it was of good quality, and at 9,6 percent it was of satisfactory quality. The classification of bathing waters within this year's Program for Monitoring the Sanitary Quality of Seawater is carried out in accordance with Article 8 of the Rulebook on the manner and deadlines for implementing measures to ensure the preservation, protection and improvement of bathing water quality, which classifies bathing waters as: 'excellent', 'good', 'satisfactory' and 'bad'," the statement reads.
In the municipality of Ulcinj, as they state, at all 18 locations where the Seawater Sanitary Quality Monitoring Program is being implemented, the water was of excellent quality.
"Out of a total of 15 locations in the municipality of Bar, 12 had excellent water quality, two had good water quality, and one had satisfactory water quality. In the municipality of Budva, the Program is being implemented at 34 locations, and of these, 28 bathing waters had excellent water quality, two had good water quality, and four had satisfactory water quality. In the Bay of Kotor, in the municipality of Tivat, out of a total of 10 locations, the water quality was excellent in seven, good in two, and satisfactory in one bathing water. Analyses showed that in Kotor, the water was of excellent quality in 11 locations, good in three, and satisfactory in one location. In Herceg Novi, water was sampled at a total of 22 locations, of which 15 had excellent water quality, three had good water quality, and four had satisfactory water quality," the statement said.
The results of seawater quality testing, as well as data on sea temperature, air temperature and salinity for each individual bathing area, can be viewed on a special application located on the website www.morskodobro.me, which is available in Montenegrin and English.
