The Europe Now Movement proposed that a street in Podgorica be named after Slavoljub Šćekić.

The Europe Now Movement's councilors' club in the Capital City Assembly has submitted an initiative to name a street in Podgorica after police inspector Slavoljub Šćekić.

PES emphasizes that Šćekić has dedicated his professional and life journey to the fight against organized crime and the protection of Montenegro.

"His murder, on the night between August 29 and 30, 2005, in front of his family home, represented one of the most serious attacks on state institutions. This is a moral act by which the Capital should express its lasting gratitude to a man who gave the most valuable thing in the service of his homeland - his own life. Although no recognition can compensate for such a loss or ease the pain of his family, it is our obligation to preserve the memory of his sacrifice and, at least symbolically, repay the debt to him and his loved ones," it was announced.

Naming the street, it is emphasized, would pay tribute not only to the honorable police officer, but also to the values ​​he defended - professionalism, courage, responsibility, and uncompromisingness.

"At the same time, it would be a lasting reminder to future generations that freedom, security and the rule of law are often the result of personal courage and individuals willing to stand up to lawlessness," it said.
