Jokić issued an order: Kotor "Vodovod" to organize on-call duty for drinking water tanks...

Due to the current situation of salinity of local springs and disruptions in public water supply in part of the territory of the Municipality of Kotor, the Mayor of the Municipality Vladimir Jokić issued an Order on the implementation of measures to protect the population from the consequences of disruptions in public water supply and a Decision on the formation of the Operational Headquarters.

This was announced tonight by the Municipality of Kotor.

The statement states that according to information from DOO "Vodovod i kanalizacija" Kotor, water from local springs is currently not drinkable, while the water is safe to drink in the areas of Škaljare, Mu, Prčanja, Stoliv, Kostanjica, Morinje and Strpa, which are supplied from the Regional Water Supply System.

The Municipality of Kotor said that the order, issued based on Article 58 of the Law on Local Self-Government, Article 87 of the Statute of the Municipality of Kotor, the provisions of the Law on Communal Activities and the Law on Waters, determines the measures and activities that need to be implemented to protect the population, as well as the entities responsible for their implementation.

"DOO 'Vodovod i kanalizacija' Kotor undertakes to organize daily, between 8 am and 8 pm, the duty of drinking water tanks in the areas affected by the water supply disruption, especially in Tabačina, Mečerovo Brijeg, Dobrota, Sveta Vrača, Kamp, Sveti Stasi, Ljuta, Orahovac, Perast and Risan. Within each of the mentioned settlements, depending on its size, at least one tank tank will be on duty. 'Vodovod' is obliged to organize daily and continuous delivery of drinking water to health institutions, kindergartens, schools, nursing homes and other vital institutions in the affected area," the statement states.

The Municipality of Kotor said that all companies owned by the Municipality of Kotor, the Protection and Rescue Service and the Voluntary Fire Department (DVD) "Bogoljub Brezić" are obliged to immediately make all tankers suitable for transporting drinking water available to 'Vodovod', along with the associated personnel.

"All municipal services, institutions and companies whose founder or co-owner is the Municipality are obliged to make all available human and logistical capacities available, at the request of 'Vodovod'. Local communities from areas affected by water supply disruptions are obliged to prepare and submit to 'Vodovod' lists of households that, for health or other justified reasons, need to have drinking water delivered to their home addresses. The Secretariat for General Administration is responsible for delivering the Order to all local communities and secretaries for its implementation," said the Municipality of Kotor.

The local government said that all involved entities are obliged to coordinate their activities with each other, as well as to cooperate with state authorities, including the Army of Montenegro, the Police Directorate and other competent institutions, for the efficient implementation of the established measures.

"In order to implement measures and coordinate all activities, an Operational Headquarters has been formed, which will be chaired by the director of DOO 'Vodovod i kanalizacija' Kotor," the statement reads.

The members of the Operations Staff are:

– Head of the Protection and Rescue Service;

– president of DVD "Bogoljub Brezić";

– Director of the LLC “Komunalno Kotor”;

– Head of the Inspection Service;

– Chief of the Municipal Police;

– one representative from each of the affected local communities;

– representative of the Red Cross Kotor.

"The operational headquarters may appoint a secretary, and is obliged to inform the President of the Municipality of Kotor about all issues and activities undertaken. The Director of 'Vodovod' is obliged to submit a written report to the President of the Municipality every day, no later than ten o'clock, on the activities and measures undertaken the previous day, as well as the situation at the water sources," the statement from the Municipality of Kotor concludes.
