Šimun visited patients injured in a traffic accident near Risan

Minister of Health Vojislav Šimun visited patients hospitalized after a traffic accident on July 12 on the Lipci-Grahovo road today, in order to be directly informed about their health condition, talk to them and their family members, and ensure that they are provided with all necessary health care, the ministry announced.

Šimun, as announced, wished them a speedy and successful recovery, emphasizing that the Ministry of Health will continue to carefully monitor their further course of treatment.

Seven patients are currently hospitalized at the Vaso Ćuković Special Hospital in Risan, whose health condition is stable and not life-threatening. Seven patients, after diagnostics, treatment and medical supervision, have been discharged for further home treatment.

"The patient who is being treated at the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center is in good general condition and preparations are underway for her discharge, while the boy who is being treated at the Clinical Center of Montenegro is still hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit, under the continuous supervision of the medical team and where all necessary treatment measures are being implemented," the statement reads.

Šimun assessed that the healthcare system responded in a timely, coordinated and professional manner in an "extremely demanding situation", "confirming the high level of readiness of healthcare institutions and all competent services to act efficiently in emergency circumstances".

He expressed special gratitude to the teams of the Emergency Medical Assistance Institute of Montenegro from Kotor, Herceg Novi, Tivat and Budva, the protection and rescue services, the Police Directorate, as well as the healthcare workers of the hospital in Risan, the Kotor Clinical Hospital and the KCCG, who "through their professional, responsible and coordinated actions enabled all injured people to receive adequate healthcare as soon as possible."

"The Minister emphasized that adequately conducted triage, timely transport of patients and impeccable coordination of all services were of key importance for the successful care of the injured. Additional confirmation of the strength of the healthcare system is the fact that, immediately upon receiving information about the large number of injured, numerous healthcare workers at the Vaso Ćuković Special Hospital, although they were not on regular shift, voluntarily responded to the call and participated in the care of patients, confirming the highest standards of professionalism, responsibility and humanity," the statement reads.

Šimun also spoke by phone with Serbian Health Minister Zlatibor Lončar, whom he informed about the health condition of the injured patients.

During their conversation, modalities for further coordination of health services were discussed, including the possibility of transporting patients and, if their health condition and the assessment of medical teams so require, the involvement of appropriate health institutions from Serbia in continuing their treatment, the Ministry of Health announced.
