Sea water at Montenegrin swimming pools is of good quality, sanitary, and safe for swimming and recreation.
This was announced by the Public Company for Coastal Zone Management, referring to the results of a seawater quality analysis for 114 locations, which was conducted by the Institute of Marine Biology between July 6 and 10 this year.
"The results showed that at 88,6 percent of locations, seawater was of excellent quality, at 2,6 percent of locations it was of good quality, and at 8,8 percent it was of satisfactory quality," they said in Morski dobro.
The classification of bathing waters within this year's Program for Monitoring the Sanitary Quality of Seawater is carried out in accordance with Article 8 of the Rulebook on the manner and deadlines for implementing measures to ensure the preservation, protection and improvement of bathing water quality, which classifies bathing waters as: "excellent", "good", "satisfactory" and "bad".
"In the municipality of Ulcinj, out of a total of 18 locations where the Sea Water Sanitary Quality Monitoring Program is being implemented, the water was of excellent quality in 14 of them, and satisfactory in four locations. Out of a total of 15 locations in the municipality of Bar, the water was of excellent quality in 12 of them, and satisfactory in the remaining three locations. When it comes to the municipality of Budva, the Program is being implemented in 34 locations, and of these, the bathing water was of excellent quality in 33, and of good quality in one. In the Bay of Kotor, in the municipality of Tivat, out of a total of 10 locations, the water was of excellent quality in eight, good in one, and satisfactory also in one bathing water. Analyses showed that in Kotor, the water was of excellent quality in 14 locations, and of satisfactory quality in one location. In Herceg Novi, water was sampled in a total of 22 locations, of which 20 were of excellent quality, in one location of good quality, and in one location of satisfactory quality," the public company states.
