The Ministry of Health has initiated the establishment of a registry of people with autism spectrum disorders.

The Ministry of Health has initiated the establishment of a registry of people with autism spectrum disorders, with the aim of improving health policy planning, better monitoring of the needs of this population, and creating more efficient support measures based on reliable data, the government department announced.

The Ministry said that the first working meeting was held, dedicated to defining the framework for establishing the registry.

"On that occasion, an agreement was reached that the registry would be established and maintained at the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, as the central institution responsible for collecting, processing and analyzing relevant data in the field of public health," the statement said.

It is stated that the meeting defined the minimum set of data that the register will contain, as well as the data sources and institutions that will be responsible for their submission, regular updating and maintenance of the register.

This, as the Ministry said, laid the foundation for the establishment of a unique, reliable and sustainable database that will represent a significant instrument in planning health and intersectoral policies.

They announced that in the coming period they will intensify activities to establish the basic functionality of the registry, with the aim of establishing its initial version as soon as possible.

The Ministry emphasized that the registry will be continuously developed and improved, in accordance with the needs of the system and best practices in the field of public health.

"The establishment of the Registry represents an important step towards the systemic improvement of healthcare for people with autism spectrum disorders, enabling the adoption of policies and measures based on relevant epidemiological indicators and the real needs of citizens," the statement said.
