Danilovgrad: Podvrh residents demand urgent solution for water supply, otherwise they announce protests

Residents of the village of Podvrh in Gornji Martinići have asked the President of the Municipality of Danilovgrad, Aleksandar Grgurović, to urgently resolve the water supply problem, and warned that if their demands are not met, they will organize protests that would include blocking the road to Danilovgrad and shutting off the water, which, they say, has been redirected to supply other settlements.

In a letter to Grgurović, they pointed out that they have been facing problems with irregular water supply for years, especially during the summer months, reports the "Volim Danilovgrad" portal.

They also recalled that they had verbally informed the authorities about their problems several times.

As they state, they expected the problem to be solved by activating the new spring in the Podvrh area, but they claim that the situation further worsened after the start of work on the construction of the new water supply system.

According to the letter, the contractor damaged the local road, filled up drainage channels, demolished part of the fences and removed a layer of asphalt from the road through the village. It is added that two pipes were installed at the same time to supply water to other settlements, while households in Podvrh were left without regular water supply.

Locals are asking the Mayor to oblige the company "Water Supply and Sewerage" Danilovgrad to urgently put the newly built pipeline into operation for the needs of the population of Podvrh or to temporarily connect it to the existing water supply system until the technical conditions for its commissioning are met.

They also state that they expect the consequences of the work to be remedied.

"It is their obligation to clean all the canals they have filled up, repair the fences they have demolished, widen the culverts they have damaged along the entire route, and bring the road into a usable condition by applying a new layer of asphalt, and despite the promises of their representatives, nothing has been done so far," the letter states.

The locals said they expect an immediate reaction from the authorities, because as they say, solving the problem "cannot be delayed," and if their demands are not met, they have announced protests.

"Otherwise, we will be forced to take more radical measures - shutting off the water that was released to supply other settlements and blocking the road to Danilovgrad," the letter concludes.
