The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, through the Eco-Fund, has supported eight project tasks whose development will cost 447.028 euros, of which a total of 290.720 euros will be provided through subsidies from that company, announced the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development Damjan Ćulafić.

According to him, the public competition was announced at the end of last year with a total budget of 500.000 euros, with the aim of creating prerequisites for the implementation of capital projects, increasing their readiness for financing from domestic and international funds, as well as encouraging concrete measures in the field of environmental protection, climate change and energy efficiency.

According to the announcement, municipalities, state bodies, and companies with majority state or municipal ownership had the right to participate in the competition.

"This is another direct support for projects in the field of environmental protection, climate change and energy efficiency, but also a strong incentive for local governments to prepare quality project documentation for the implementation of important infrastructure investments. I am particularly pleased by the fact that a significant number of supported projects are from municipalities in northern Montenegro. This shows that local governments have recognized the importance of subsidies provided by the state and that they are increasingly actively using available support mechanisms for the implementation of projects that contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development," Ćulafić emphasized.

He reminded that these are not the only projects that the Ministry is currently implementing in the field of environmental protection.

"Through the implementation units of PROCON and VODACOM, we are implementing numerous projects throughout Montenegro, both in the north and in the south of the country, primarily in the field of water supply and wastewater management. At the same time, negotiations are underway with our international partner, the World Bank, on the implementation of a strategic project to invest in infrastructure and resilience of water services, worth 40 million euros. In this way, we continue to create conditions for improving municipal infrastructure and a better quality of life for citizens, while at the same time preserving the environment," concluded Ćulafić.
