In Nikšić, there is a place where knowledge is shared, support is provided, and new opportunities are created, the Ministry of European Affairs (MEP) announced today.
The statement adds that the Information and Education Center, created through the EU project "Employment Excellence Program", today brings together citizens of different interests - those who want to improve their knowledge and skills, but also those who need professional support.
"Through workshops, education and counseling, this space continues to connect people even after the project ends," said MEP, headed by Maida Gorčević.
"We were given the opportunity to establish and equip the space of the Information and Educational Center for Employers and the Unemployed, which is now operational," says project coordinator Biljana Pinjatić.
Among the people who provide content to this space today is psychologist and psychotherapy consultant Nađa Pekić, who, among other things, provides free psychological support to citizens at the Center.
"The focus is for everything to be at the service of citizens, for it to be free. Hence the idea and vision of having a psychologist in the story, for it to be a service that is free, that is related to mental health," said Pekić.
The MEP statement states that the results of the work show that the Center represents an important place of support for citizens.
"That is perhaps the best feedback - that more than 200 events take place here in one year, that over 500 sessions, or psychological counseling, are provided to citizens free of charge," says Pekić.
Zorana Jelovac from the Day Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities and Persons with Disabilities confirms that support through the project also means new knowledge that stays in the community. Through the project, she received training as an occupational therapist and printing on various materials, and she uses the acquired knowledge in her work with the Day Center's users.
"I was in the project for ten months. Four months were funded by the program, six months by the Day Care Center. It meant a lot to me, because I gained some new knowledge and skills that I could pass on to my beneficiaries," says Jelovac.
The purchased equipment enabled new knowledge to be immediately applied in practice.
"We got all the machines for printing, we got foils, materials, we got a plotter, thermopresses, cups, everything we needed to get started," explains Jelovac.
Pinjatić points out that sustainability is one of the most important results of this project.
"As part of the project, 30 unemployed people underwent some of the licensed training. Then, 34 of them underwent a motivational workshop, valuable equipment was purchased for project partners, and seven people were employed during the duration of the project," says Pinjatić.
The MEP said that the Employment Excellence Program was implemented by the Municipality of Nikšić in partnership with the Public Institution Day Care Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities and Persons with Disabilities, Radio-Television Nikšić and the NGO Business Center, with the support of the European Union through the Grant Scheme "Support to Employment, Social Inclusion and Social Entrepreneurship", in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue.
"Through the project, 34 unemployed people underwent motivational workshops, 30 of them completed licensed training, and ten people found employment. A Local Employment Partnership was established and the Employment Strategy of the Municipality of Nikšić for the period 2024–2028 was developed, while the Information and Education Center today represents one of the lasting results of European support," the MEP statement states.
