Berane is celebrating Municipality Day today, and congratulations have arrived from state officials and political parties.
Pejović: Berane can be one of the key development centers of the north
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Boris Pejović said that July 21st symbolizes "the spirit of freedom, the rich tradition and identity of this region."
He sent his congratulations to the local leadership and citizens, wishing that "this significant holiday will be an incentive for the further development of the city and an even better quality of life for all its citizens."
"Berane is a city of rich history, recognizable culture and exceptional natural beauty, which has made an immeasurable contribution to the development of Montenegro through its past. It is this heritage, together with hardworking and enterprising people, that represents a strong foundation for future development," Pejović said.
He is convinced, he says, that Berane has the potential to become one of the key development centers of northern Montenegro.
"I believe that our common goal must be to create conditions in which young people will want to stay in Berane, start families and build their future. This is only possible through responsible cooperation between local and state authorities and joint work on projects that bring long-term benefits to citizens. Once again, I heartily congratulate you on the Day of the Municipality, with the wish that Berane continues on the path of development, prosperity and progress, to the pride of all its citizens."
Bogavac: Only together can we create Berane that will be an example of successful development
The president of the Berane board of the People's Trust Movement, Tihomir Bogavac, congratulated the citizens on the Day of the Municipality, wishing that "our city will continue to develop, strengthen and be a place where every family will have the opportunity for a dignified life, work and progress."
"Berane is a city with a rich history, honorable people and great potential. I believe that with joint efforts, responsibility and mutual respect, we can build an even better future for all our fellow citizens, and especially for young people who need to see their prospects right here. May this day remind us of the importance of togetherness, solidarity and responsibility towards our city. Only together can we create a Berane that will be the pride of all of us and an example of successful development," the statement reads.
Ćulafić: The city is changing for the better, new investments are coming
Berane is a city with a rich history, hardworking and honest people, a city that has always known how to preserve its identity and natural beauty. That is why I believe that it deserves development that will be sustainable, responsible and directed towards a better quality of life for all its citizens.
This was stated by the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, Damjan Ćulafić, in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Berane.
"Today, I can say with pleasure that Berane has become one of the focuses of green development projects in Montenegro. The city is changing for the better. Investments in road infrastructure are increasing, but also in projects related to environmental protection. The most important bearers of these changes are the citizens. It was not easy to initiate processes after decades of insufficient investment and neglect, but today the results of joint work and a clear development vision are visible. I will just mention that Berane is today part of one of the most significant development projects in Montenegro, with a total value of 50 million euros, which the Government of Montenegro plans to implement in cooperation with the World Bank, with a special focus on improving water security and strengthening resilience to climate change," Ćulafić emphasized.
He reminded that the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, through the Eco-Fund, supported eight project tasks with a total value of 447.028 euros, of which 290.720 euros will be provided through Eco-Fund subsidies.
"Among the local governments that will implement these projects is Berane again, which confirms our commitment to continue with investments that will contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development of the municipality, and these projects will build on those that we have successfully implemented by removing illegal landfills. We have allocated funds for the construction of a sewage network in the Coastal Settlement and we expect the local administration to complete the tender procedure so that this part of the city will be equipped with quality municipal infrastructure this year. We supported the organization of the first Tourism Fair, the International Agricultural Fair, the Thunderfest electronic music festival, and Berane is also part of the national environmental campaign Green Renewal of Montenegro. The crowning glory of our joint work is the construction of a coastal fortification on the Lim River, which is not only a significant environmental project with an evidently positive aesthetic impact, but also environmental protection," the congratulatory message reads.
Ćulafić said that these are just some of the important projects that have been launched or implemented recently.
"But I am convinced that, through the joint work of the local government, the Government of Montenegro and our international partners, we will continue to create conditions for new investments, the development of communal infrastructure and a better quality of life for all citizens of Berane. Once again, I congratulate you on the Day of the Municipality, with the wish that Berane continues on the path of development, progress and prosperity, to the pride of all its citizens," the minister concluded.
Bečić: Berane is one of the most beautiful pearls of northern Montenegro
Today is a permanent reminder of July 21, 1944, when Berane was liberated from fascist occupation, confirming that the spirit of freedom of this region was and remains one of the strongest values on which modern Montenegro is based, said Aleksa Bečić, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Policy, in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Berane.
"Inspired by the magnificent July 13th Uprising, the people of Berane and the entire Vasojević area showed that the love of freedom has no price. In the most difficult times, our ancestors did not ask who was different, but who was ready to defend human dignity and the right to a free life together. That is precisely why their sacrifice obliges us today to build a society in which dialogue will be stronger than division, togetherness more important than differences, and the common interest ahead of each individual," he stated.
Bečić pointed out that Berane is a city of rich history, culture and creativity.
"A city that gave birth to famous figures such as Gavro Vuković, the first Montenegrin Minister of Foreign Affairs, but also numerous distinguished scientists, doctors, athletes, artists and hosts who, with their work, spread the name of Berane far beyond the borders of Montenegro. Located on the banks of the Lim River, under Jasikovac, between Bjelasica and the Vasojević expanses, Berane represents one of the most beautiful pearls of the north, with exceptional natural, tourist and economic potential," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He says that he is particularly pleased with the fact that the development of northern Montenegro is becoming one of the most important state priorities today.
"The continued construction of the highway to this part of our country will bring better connectivity, new investments, greater opportunities for the development of tourism, agriculture and entrepreneurship, but above all, new hope that young people will build their future precisely in Berane. I am certain that, with responsible state and local policies, this area will achieve its full development potential in the years ahead. Convinced that Berane is awaiting years of progress, new investments and an even better quality of life for all citizens, I once again extend my sincere congratulations to all the people of Berane on the occasion of the Municipality Day, with the wish that they spend it in health and harmony, with pride in their city," concluded Bečić.

"On the occasion of Municipality Day, I send you my sincere congratulations, with the wish that you celebrate it in the spirit of togetherness, solidarity and mutual respect, and that the upcoming period brings new successes, developmental strides and long-term prosperity to Berane. Happy Berane Municipality Day," concluded Perić.
