The Environmental Protection Agency was sacrificed due to party calculations, and it is not a good solution for it to be part of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, because the necessary efficiency is not achieved in this way, according to Ozon.
At its session on Thursday, the Government gave the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism consent to dismiss the Agency's director, Ervin Spahić, due to the abolition of the Agency and the adoption of the Rulebook on the internal organization and systematization of that department.
"I am of the opinion that the Environmental Protection Agency has been sacrificed due to party calculations and that what is happening right now has nothing to do with the real purpose of this very important institution for us, in the creation of which we had the honor to participate," Ozone director Aleksandar told the Mina agency. According to him, it is no secret that in the previous period they did not agree with the way the Agency works, nor how it is managed, "but it is also known that we considered it necessary for that institution to be independent and free from political pressure, because that is the only way it can fulfill its purpose with quality".
"If it is not possible to achieve this, and it is no secret that the recruitment was carried out along party lines, it is necessary to find a model to keep professional people, of whom there are many, in the system, and those who are not professionally up to the entrusted functions are adequately taken care of in accordance with the laws," he said. is Perovic.
As he said, he does not consider it a good solution for the Agency to be a branch of the Ministry.
"Because this does not achieve the necessary efficiency, it is necessary to either clearly define competences and responsibilities or to unite everything under the Ministry, and to "freeze" the Environmental Protection Agency until the conditions are met for it to be an independent body whose work will be of public interest and freed from party pressures and manipulations," Perović said.
He told his colleagues who, as he said, did their work with quality and honor, that at Ozon they always valued good work and honest relationships and that this will not change wherever they work in the future.
