Local authorities invite citizens to focus groups to develop a new five-year Cultural Development Program for Tivat

Yesterday, the Municipality of Tivat invited the residents of that city to join the work of focus groups with citizens, which are being formed as part of the activities to develop the Cultural Development Program of the Municipality of Tivat for the period 2026–2030.

This is a strategic document that will define the directions of development of the city's cultural life in the next five years and is being prepared using the so-called participatory approach, which implies the involvement of citizens, civil society organizations, cultural institutions, professional public and other interested stakeholders.

"The goal is for the program to be based on the real needs of the community, recognized challenges and development potential of culture in Tivat," the local government announced on this occasion.

As part of the development of the Cultural Development Program of the Municipality of Tivat for the period 2026–2030, the Municipality of Tivat and the Working Group for the development of the document yesterday invited citizens, cultural workers, creators and all interested stakeholders to participate in focus groups, one of the key mechanisms of the consultative process.

Focus groups, as they explained, are guided, interactive thematic discussions in small groups (8 to 12 participants). Unlike classic surveys or public discussions, focus groups allow for deeper insight into the needs, challenges, and ideas of different cultural actors.

"Through direct dialogue on topics such as cultural heritage, contemporary creativity, cultural tourism, infrastructure and amateurism, participants jointly analyze the current situation and propose concrete solutions that can contribute to the content of the future five-year document," the local administration said, adding that citizens have several ways to participate in the process of developing this strategic document.

"Participation in focus groups is just one of the mechanisms through which citizens can directly contribute to shaping the city's cultural policy. The Municipality of Tivat is establishing a multi-layered consultative process in order to hear the voice of the widest possible community, which interested parties can learn about through the official website of the Cultural Development Program of the Municipality of Tivat," they stated.

The Working Group for the Development of the Cultural Development Program of the Municipality of Tivat for the period 2026–2030 is headed by Maja Marović, a master's degree holder in art history and South Slavic languages ​​and literature.

"The Cultural Development Program does not only concern cultural institutions and event organizers. It encompasses issues of cultural heritage, accessibility of cultural content, audience development, work with children and youth, cultural tourism, community identity and the quality of life of citizens. Therefore, it is important that as many citizens, organizations and institutions as possible are included in the process, so that the future Cultural Development Program reflects the needs and potential of Tivat as faithfully as possible," Marović emphasized.
