Additional competition for high school enrollment announced, applications from August 17th to 20th

The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MESI) announced today a subsequent competition for the enrollment of students in the first grade of secondary schools in Montenegro for the 2026/2027 school year.

As stated in the announcement, the application for the competition, as in the June deadline, is submitted electronically at www.upisi.edu.me. A student who is using the application for enrollment for the first time must register in advance. Students will also be able to apply for enrollment at school, if for some reason they have a problem with the electronic application, the Ministry of Education and Science said.

Applications for the competition are submitted on August 17, 18 and 19, 2026 (from 0 to 24 hours) and August 20, 2026 (until 15 hours).

"A total of 2.182 places were announced in the subsequent competition for the enrollment of students in the first grade of secondary schools, of which 559 are in grammar school programs. The number of places in four-year vocational education programs is 780, 746 in three-year vocational education programs, and 97 in musical arts programs," the Ministry of Education and Science announced.

The department headed by Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović emphasized that, during the deadline for submitting applications for enrollment in the school, the commission is obliged to publish an updated ranking list of candidates, who applied by 16 pm on that day, every day at 15 pm, in order to inform them about their place on the ranking list. The ranking list is published on the school noticeboard and contains for each candidate: name, name of parent or guardian, surname, number of points achieved individually according to the criteria that are evaluated for enrollment and the total number of points achieved.

The ranking list of candidates for enrollment in the school is published on the school noticeboard no later than August 25, 2026. After the ranking list is published, students submit to the school original certificates from the last three grades of primary school and diplomas of results from national and international competitions, or awarded recognition, within the deadlines set by the school.

Students enrolling in the first grade of secondary schools are exempt from paying administrative fees, in accordance with the Law on Administrative Fees, the Ministry of Education and Science reminded.

Students who are educated according to three-year educational programs have the option of dual education, by concluding an individual education contract with the employer.

A student in a dual form of education is entitled to a compensation. The amount of the compensation is at least 10 percent for the first year of education, at least 15 percent for the second year of education, and at least 20 percent for the third year of education of the average net salary in Montenegro in the previous year compared to the year in which the compensation is paid, the statement concludes.
