With the lecture "Identity in Crisis" by Prof. Bogoljub Šijaković, on Sunday, May 7, the six-day spiritual and cultural manifestation "Days of Saint Vasilij Ostroški", which has been held in Nikšić since 2000, organized by the Diocese of Budimlja-Nikšić and Crkvena, begins The deacon, Nikola Marojević, PhD, presented at the press conference this year's event, as part of which they will be promoting - the book by Archbishop Aleksandar Stamatović "Trial of Metropolitan Arsenije Bradvarević", the diocesan magazine "Sveviđe", children's stories "From Shepherd to saint" by Vesna Todorović, as well as the exhibition of paintings by Miša Branković "300 years of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra".
The librarian Milutin Mićović said that culture in Montenegro has been reduced to a simulation and that the system has crushed people's every need for authentic culture and spirit.
"If something else is truly happening in Montenegro, it is truly invisible, and in that sense, the mission of St. Basil is always current because no one sees it with their own eyes, maybe they sense it intuitively, and that's why it has a large audience. The people cling to miracles when they completely lose their feeling and power in the real world and life", said Mićović and added that cultural events happen out of inertia.
According to him, the "Days of St. Vasilij Ostroški" program preserved the spiritual dimension.
Ratko Krivokapić, president of the church municipality of Nikšić, reminded that litia has been held in the streets of the town under Trebjes since 1996 and that the day of St. Vasilija in Nikšić, the most massive holiday, when several thousand people gather. He reminded that St. Vasilije, the spiritual patron of Nikšić, but also the glory of the city, as well as the fact that last year they initiated that May 12 be a non-working day in Nikšić, but it seems that the time has not yet come for that to happen.
"St. Basil is our beacon, pillar and fortress of faith, steersman in these difficult times in the world, when there is a huge stumbling of spiritual, moral, economic and all other values," Krivokapić said.
He reminded that Vasilije (Stojan Jovanović) was born in the village of Mrkonjić, in Popovo Polje, and that he came to the Ostrog monastery through the Zavale and Tvrdoš monasteries.
The event ends on May 12, the day when Vasilije, who was declared a saint due to his healing powers, passed away.
On that day, the holy bishop's liturgy will be served, while at 18 p.m., as every year, the litany begins in the streets of the city.
