Bečić: Air Force dropped 369 tons of water on fire sites during the day

During the day, the Air Force of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Army of Montenegro were engaged in priority fire locations in Bijela and Baošići in the municipality of Herceg Novi, as well as in the area of ​​Vladimir and Zoganj in the municipality of Ulcinj.

As Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić said, three AT-802 aircraft made 53 sorties, during which 159 tons of water were dropped over the fire area, while the Antonov AN-32P aircraft made 10 sorties and dropped 80 tons of water.

In total, the planes made 63 sorties today and dropped 239 tons of water over the fire, he added.

The aviation capacities of the Montenegrin Army were also engaged in extinguishing the fire, with their activities releasing 130 tons of water today onto the fire sites in Ulcinj and Herceg Novi.

Bečić announced that 369 tons of water were dropped from the air onto the fire sites today.

"In the Herceg Novi area, protection and rescue services from Kotor, Tivat, Nikšić, Bar, Budva, Podgorica and Cetinje, as well as teams from Trebinje, are engaged. Volunteer fire departments from Perast, Boka, Luštica and Bijela, the Luštica Bay Enterprise Unit, members of the Police Directorate, the Red Cross, water supply and utility companies, private companies and other entities that have tankers, as well as a certain number of volunteers, are also participating in extinguishing the fire," said Bečić.

He added that protection and rescue services from Bijelo Polje, Podgorica, Berane, Žabljak, Plužine and Plav, members of the Army of Montenegro, municipal police, voluntary fire brigades, local residents, as well as private tankers used to refill fire trucks with water, were deployed in the Ulcinj area.

"All engaged services and entities are acting in a coordinated manner and continuously monitoring the situation on the ground, while available capacities are being directed towards priority locations. The protection and rescue system is fully engaged, and all activities are focused on protecting lives and property, and bringing the fire under control," Bečić announced.
