Fires in Herceg Novi, Ulcinj and Nikšić active and under control, in the Bar and Sutomore areas almost completely extinguished

In the areas of Herceg Novi, Ulcinj and Nikšić, fires are active and under control, while fires in the areas of Bar and Sutomore have been almost completely extinguished.

As announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the Herceg Novi area, a fire is active on the Baošići - Bijela - Zelenika stretch, while in Ulcinj there are active fires in the areas of Vladimir, Klezna, Gač, Zoganj, Briska Gora and Darza. In Nikšić, fires are active in the locations of Kusida and Strmina. The fire on Lisinje in Bar, as well as the fire on Goli Brdo in Sutomore, are currently under control.

"In order to operate as efficiently as possible and bring the fire under control, aviation capacities will be engaged during the day. Thus, an Antonov AN-32P aircraft and an AT-802 aircraft will be sent to the fire areas in the Ulcinj area, while two AT-802 aircraft and a Bell 412 helicopter of the Army of Montenegro will operate in the Baošić area in the municipality of Herceg Novi. One AT-802 aircraft will be redirected from the fire area in Herceg Novi to the fire in the Kusid area in Nikšić during the morning, in accordance with the assessment of the situation on the ground and priorities for action," the Ministry of the Interior announced.

In Herceg Novi, protection and rescue services from several municipalities are operating, as well as volunteer fire brigades and other available forces. Members of the Herceg Novi Protection and Rescue Service with 10 vehicles and 38 firefighters are on the ground, as well as members from other Montenegrin municipalities: Tivat, Kotor, Cetinje, Bar, Nikšić and Budva. Additionally, firefighters from Trebinje have been deployed, as well as volunteer fire brigades from Tivat, Boka, Luštica, Perast, Bijela and Luštica Bay. A total of 27 vehicles (trucks) and 93 firefighters have been deployed in the Herceg Novi area.

In the Ulcinj area, the Ulcinj Protection and Rescue Service is being assisted by firefighters from Bijelo Polje, Berane, Bar and Shkodra. The Montenegrin Army is deployed with 14 members, three fire trucks and two off-road vehicles. A total of 14 vehicles (trucks) and 66 firefighters are deployed in the Ulcinj area, with additional deployment of members of the Montenegrin Army.

"All available services are acting in a coordinated manner, monitoring the situation at the fire sites with the priority goal of protecting the lives and property of citizens, preventing the spread of fires and bringing them under full control. The competent services will remain on the ground throughout the day, and the deployment of forces and the engagement of aviation capacities will be adjusted to the development of the situation, wind strength and other weather conditions," it was announced.
