Traffic Administration: Unacceptable attempts to cross the Đurđevića Tara Bridge

The Traffic Administration announced that attempts to cross the Đurđevića Tara Bridge are unacceptable, and that they are taking additional measures to prevent unauthorized movement through the construction site zone.

Rafters who organize tourist boat trips down Tara told "Vijesti" yesterday that, despite the official total ban on traffic across the bridge in Đurđevića Tara due to construction work, individuals are allowed to cross, while others are prevented from transporting boats and equipment.

"We would like to remind you that since August 10, a complete traffic suspension has been in effect across the Đurđevića Tara Bridge, due to the implementation of a demanding and key phase of its reconstruction. After learning that individuals were trying to pass through the zone where the works are being carried out, the Traffic Administration organized meetings and consultations with relevant entities involved in the implementation of the project and the implementation of the changed traffic regime, in order to take additional measures and prevent such situations. Attempts to cross the bridge during the complete suspension are inadmissible. This is an active construction site where complex construction works are being carried out, which is why unauthorized entry can seriously endanger the safety of citizens themselves, as well as workers engaged in the reconstruction," the Traffic Administration announced.

They point out that the complete traffic closure was not introduced arbitrarily, but because certain works on the bridge cannot be carried out while traffic is flowing at the same time.

"Any failure to comply with the ban further complicates the organization of the construction site and may jeopardize the dynamics and safety of the work. The Traffic Administration is taking measures within its jurisdiction to ensure that access to the bridge during the suspension is additionally controlled and clearly marked, and at the same time, we will continue to coordinate with the competent services to ensure consistent compliance with the introduced regime. Once again, we appeal to citizens not to attempt to cross the bridge or enter the work zone, but to use the officially designated alternative road route," the Traffic Administration announced.
