Environmental incidents on the Lim River continue, and the cause of the pollution remains unknown.

Suspicious white liquid and foam appeared again this morning on the waters of the Lim River in Bijelo Polje.

Several fishermen contacted the "Vijesti" editorial office, pointing out this persistent problem.

The pollution was recorded in the town of Kanje, and fishermen note that early this morning the situation was significantly worse than at around 8:30 a.m. The polluted waters of the Lim River crossed the state border (only a few kilometers away) and entered the territory of Serbia, moving from the town of Kanje downstream towards Brodarevo and Prijepolje.

Therefore, they called on ecologists and competent services from Montenegro and Serbia (Brodarevo and Prijepolje) to urgently intervene.

"All of these are reasons for great concern due to the possible consequences for water quality, fish stocks and the entire river ecosystem," say the fishermen.

"Sadness and whatnot."

This is how the latest wave of pollution in the form of white foam was described to "Vijesti" by Hajrudin Kujović, a resident of Bjelopolje, who has been living in Germany for 34 years, next to the Inn River, but spends all his free time on Lim.

"I don't go to the sea, because I'm a passionate fisherman and I come four times a year because of these unreal beauty shores. The scenes I see here are horrific and I'm very disappointed. Visible wires, nets, bags, bottles, fittings, containers... cars, you have nowhere to put your foot. My children spend their summers in Spain, Portugal and other destinations because of these things, because they can't accept that something like this exists," Kujović said.

Fishermen and NGOs have been warning for years that white foam and industrial wastewater are periodically released from upstream facilities.

Yet, despite reports and water sampling, the public rarely gets an epilogue on who the polluters are and whether they are ever punished.
