The British Embassy in Podgorica has presented this year's winners of the Chevening Scholarships, Ilija Franeta and Tamara Radulović, who will soon begin their master's studies in the United Kingdom, the embassy announced.
As stated in the statement, at a reception held yesterday at her residence, British Ambassador Nerys Jones presented them with certificates, in the presence of members of the Chevening community in Montenegro.
"Ilija Franeta will study international political economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Tamara Radulović will attend a master's program in strategic entrepreneurship and innovation at King's College London," the statement reads.
Ambassador Jones, as reported, emphasized the importance of this program for the development of Montenegro.
"Through Chevening, the United Kingdom is investing in future leaders and experts who will contribute to the development of Montenegro. We enable talented people to develop the knowledge, critical thinking and skills needed to solve specific challenges in their country at British universities. The value of this education also lies in connecting with researchers, businesses and experts from around the world. The aim of our support is for the knowledge gained to be applied upon return through better public policies, more successful businesses and stronger institutions. This is a concrete investment in people who can create new opportunities for the citizens of Montenegro. I congratulate this year's scholarship recipients, Ilija Franeta and Tamara Radulović, and I invite everyone who wants to contribute to the development of Montenegro with their knowledge and work to apply for Chevening," she said.
As the embassy adds, Chevening is a global program of the British government, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organizations.
"It provides fully funded one-year master's studies at British universities, with tuition fees, travel expenses and a monthly allowance for accommodation and living. The program is intended for candidates from various fields who demonstrate leadership potential and have a clear idea of how they will apply the acquired knowledge in their country. In addition to academic development, it provides an opportunity for professional networking and cooperation with colleagues from all over the world. The Chevening community in Montenegro has almost 130 participants in scholarship and professional development programs so far," the statement said.
The British Embassy said that applications for the next generation of scholarship holders are open until October 6th, at 13 p.m.
"Detailed information on the conditions and how to apply is available at chevening.org/montenegro", it is stated.
