The director of the "25. maj" Secondary Mixed School (SMŠ) in Tuzi, Sehad Ljuljanaj, submitted his irrevocable resignation from that position last night, citing personal and moral reasons, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) announced.
"The Ministry will, in accordance with the law, carry out the procedure regarding the appointment of the acting head of this educational institution," the Ministry of Education and Science said.
The resignation came after students at the "25. maj" secondary school protested for several days, first over the dismissal of history professor Marko Junčaj. Although Ljuljanaj issued a decision on Wednesday overturning the decision to dismiss Junčaj, students said in yesterday's protest that they would not go to class until Ljuljanaj resigns.
Professor Junčaj claimed that he was fired for revenge - he and several other employees reported alleged irregularities in the director's work. Ljuljanaj previously denied these allegations in a statement to "Vijesti" and said that the professor had a number of shortcomings during the previous school year.
Meanwhile, a call for a protest in Tuzi, which was announced for September 15th, has been spread on social media.
