Dukaj pointed out that Montenegro has significantly strengthened its national cybersecurity system after the cyber attack.

"Cybersecurity today is not just a matter of protecting information systems, but it is also a matter of national security, state resilience and citizens' trust in institutions," said Dukaj.

As announced by the Ministry of Public Administration (MPA), he emphasized that one of the key priorities in the coming period will be the development of human capacities, with continuous investment in specialization, practical exercises and expert knowledge.

"In this context, it was emphasized that Montenegro sees Sweden as an important and reliable partner, with which it wishes to further develop cooperation through the exchange of knowledge and experience, strengthening professional capacities, joint exercises and activities to protect critical infrastructure," the statement said.

Dukaj said the goal is a digitally resilient Montenegro, which can protect its institutions, infrastructure and citizens, but also be a reliable partner to its allies.

"In that process, we want partnership cooperation with Sweden," added Dukaj.

The MPA statement states that, as a member of NATO and a country progressing on its path towards the European Union, Montenegro will continue to develop its cybersecurity system in accordance with European and Euro-Atlantic standards.

"The interlocutors confirmed their readiness to intensify cooperation, assessing that stronger connections between Montenegro and Sweden in the field of cybersecurity represent an investment not only in the security of the two countries, but also in the resilience of the entire region," the statement concludes.
