Recipients of old-age benefits in Montenegro will again be able to be beneficiaries of premiums and other support measures of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
As announced by that department, the procedure of collecting documentation will be made easier for beneficiaries of old age benefits, because the most important part of the necessary checks will be performed ex officio.
"The restriction, which was in force in previous years, that agricultural producers who receive premiums cannot exercise the right to old-age benefits, was removed, at the proposal of the Ministry, by the decision of the Government at yesterday's session," the statement said.
The government, as specified, adopted the Decision on amendments to the Decision on the detailed conditions and procedure for the payment of old-age benefits.
"Thus, the illegitimacy of losing the right to old-age allowance, if someone who lives in the countryside and engages in agriculture also realizes the right to a premium," says the announcement.
As stated, in practice there were many examples and complaints sent to the Ministry that some people lost their right to monthly old-age benefits, due to the premium that is received once a year, which was often in the minimum amount.
The Ministry reviewed all remarks, as well as those that were heard in direct communication with beneficiaries of old age benefits.
"It was concluded that it is not fair that the right to the premium excludes the right to the old-age benefit, because this sends the message that those who live in the countryside should not engage in agriculture if they want to receive the old-age benefit," the Ministry said.
It is explained that the Government Decision simplifies the procedure for realizing the right to compensation, so that the renewal of documentation will not be the obligation of the user, but the necessary checks will be carried out ex officio.
"Thus, the administrative barrier that burdened the elderly users, who visited the counters and collected documentation spending money for taxes, was removed. The renewal of the bulk of the documentation for old-age benefits will now be obtained and checked ex officio," the statement said.
