A gray heron was handed over to the Bird Research and Study Center (CZIP), for which they filed a complaint against Marko Otašević, who allegedly tortured it.
"We are waiting for a vet examination. We have good news for all of you who are concerned about the fate of this beautiful bird. #CZIP took care of her after she was handed over to us. Now the most important thing is that she is in safe hands. However, she is in a very bad state of health , weighs only 300 grams, she is exhausted and under stress. In order for her to recover as soon as possible, we named her Živka. Thank you to everyone who provided us with support, information, and compassion. We are sincerely moved by the number of calls and messages we received. It remains to we see the actions of the police and the prosecutor's office," said CZIP.
CZIP previously filed a criminal complaint against Otašević for torturing a gray heron, and he left a message on social networks.
As stated earlier from the CZIP, he left a message on their Facebook page "Here are pictures from today and what are we going to do now idiots?".
"We are asking all those who have information about the location of the gray heron, which is obviously injured and tied up, or who know the address of Marko Otašević to let us know. The bird is still alive and we may be able to save it. Anonymity guaranteed!!!", they stated earlier on Facebook profile CZIP.
Otašević posted a video on his Instagram account - "What a beautiful bird", in which someone is strangling a protected species, which screams in agony. Later in the video, the same person pulls the tortured bird with a chain, forcing it to fly. That he does it for fun is shown by his laughter, which can be heard while torturing the heron.
The CZIP filed the report, they claim, because of the suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of "killing and torturing animals and destroying their habitat".
