The first phase of expanding the capacity of the Shelter for Abandoned and Lost Pets will be completed through the "Be Responsible" project.
The holder of the project "Reconstruction of a shelter for abandoned animals and boarding house for temporary care of pets", worth 50 thousand euros, is the city company "Čistoća", and the construction of 120 boxes for housing dogs is planned.
The complete expansion of the asylum, planned in the coming period, will include the construction of a building with accompanying facilities.
The shelter for abandoned and lost pets will expand on the plot next to the current one, and according to the plan, its area will be 7.898 square meters.
The entire project requires 809.339,94 euros.
"A 50.000-euro donation agreement was signed with the Ministry of Finance, which will be used for the realization of the first phase of expanding the capacity of the Shelter for Abandoned and Lost Pets", announced from "Cistoca".
Given the limited accommodation capacity of the Shelter in Vrele Ribničke, the authorities in "Cistoka" during the last year carried out a project to expand the capacity of the Shelter, which would enable the accommodation of a larger number of dogs.
"The main project was done in everything according to the Rulebook on the conditions that boarding houses and shelters for abandoned animals should meet, and includes the construction of an administrative building with all the necessary rooms, an accommodation area for dogs, which consists of boxes for housing a minimum of 150 dogs, designed according to standards for this type of facilities, as well as a fenced open area for the animals to stay outside the boxes", explained the company.
100 thousand euros have been provided for this year.
"In addition to the money provided through the "Be Responsible" project, the budget of the Capital City for 2017 allocated an amount of 50.000 euros for the expansion of the shelter," adds "Cistocë".
According to the authorities, the construction of the first phase would significantly contribute to solving the problem of stray dogs in the city.
