Sick Rada Šipčić from the village of Mala Crna Gora waited for almost two days for rescuers to evacuate her from the impassable village of Zabljak.

Her cry reached the Žabljak Protection and Rescue Service on Monday before noon, and the old woman was rescued from the snow blockade by rescuers from Plužine Nikola Glomazić and Mirko Cicmil on Wednesday evening.

With the help of another man from Plužine, they managed to evacuate the old woman by snowmobile. In Plužine, Rada's son waited for them and, thanking the rescuers, took his mother to the hospital in Nikšić.

The two rescuers from Žabljak previously headed towards Mala Montenegro as soon as they received the call, but they could not cross the Štuoc pass.

"Although we went to that village in the previous days, the new snow covered the already well-trodden paths. They barely managed to return to Žabljak. We were thinking about how to proceed. I invited my colleagues from Plužine. They were checking whether it was possible to go through the canyon of Sušice. They informed me that it would be risky, because avalanches can start at any moment", the head of the Service, Drago Popović, told "Vijesta".

He says that he immediately informed the Directorate for Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Interior and that the helicopter was also approved. The story goes that, following the weather situation, the pilot took off on Tuesday around 10 am.

"He tried for a long time and from several directions to land in the village, but he failed because visibility was reduced due to thick fog. After noon, I called my colleagues from Plužine again. This time they didn't think. The advantage was that the road was passable to the village of Nedajno, which separates Sušice canyon from Mala Crne Gora. They transported two sleds on the trailers of all-terrain vehicles to the village, and from there on sleds down the steep canyon," says Popović.

Glomazić told "Vijesta" that at exactly 13 p.m. they entered a canyon full of obstacles - broken trees and rocks, and there were also avalanches.

"We carried sleds over the trees, cleared avalanches and slopes with shovels, so that the sleds could pass. We managed to reach Rada. We rested a bit while she got ready and then headed back. The same problems on the way back. It was risky in several places, so she had to walk part of the way through the canyon. The day was approaching calm when we arrived at Nedajno, and the action ended around 20 pm".
