"If you are a flower, be a mimosa in Novi" is the name of the exhibition which, as one of the announcements of the 48 Mimosa Festival, was opened on Monday evening in the multimedia gallery "Novi to sam ja".
Photographs are on display that record the details of the Mimosa Festival - all masquerade balls since 1969, from the visit of the Mimosa caravan in other cities and countries, including the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, old posters, handwritten and drawn invitations to join the majorettes, uniforms, magazine covers decorated with mimosas and majorettes, other details.
"The exhibition is our attempt to break away from oblivion what the Mimosa Festival used to look like," said the director of the Tourist Organization, Ana Stanišić.
The long-time president of the Herceg Novi Tourist Association, Lazar Seferović, recalled that the Mimosa Festival was the first event in Yugoslavia organized in honor of flowers, that Herceg Novi majorettes were the first majorettes in Yugoslavia and that it was "the strongest penetration of Herceg Novi into European cultural trends.
Visitors were greeted at the opening by longtime tourism workers and enthusiasts Anton Krstović, Dragan Ristić and Aleksandar Saša Vidić.
The exhibition was organized by TO Herceg Novi.
