The ecological movement "Ozone" and the Center for Democratic Transition realized three educational-consultative workshops on participatory budgeting for the youth of the Municipalities Center 1, Center 2 and Kličevo, in which over a hundred young people participated.
"We are very satisfied with the feedback and ideas we received from young people, who showed that they know the problems of their local communities, but also the desire to contribute to the improvement of the quality of the environment, both through initiatives and personal public engagement. This is the biggest benefit for us as project implementers, and I believe also for the local administration, which should make much more use of the positive energy, ideas and creativity of the young people of Nikšić, who are the future of this city", said Aleksandar Perović, director of "Ozone".
According to him, the participants of the workshop had very interesting proposals for what needs to be financed from the budget of the municipality of Nikšić in order to improve the quality of life in the local community. All received proposals will be submitted to the local administration in the form of a separate document, along with recommendations such as improving the quality of the public debate for the draft budget, which, Perović believes, will help the "Your money, your game, your choice" project, within which the mentioned workshops were organized. , give additional importance.
"After we followed the public debate for the draft budget for 2017, especially the part that concerns informing and motivating citizens and the interested public to actively participate in the decision-making process, we are even more convinced that the method of participatory budgeting is the most optimal and that in the future, he must work much harder on communication and creating a favorable environment so that everyone who loves Nikšić and wants to live and work for him has the opportunity to put forward ideas and influence the priorities that will be financed with funds from the municipal budget. Our money, our city, and the choice of what to do should be up to us," said Perović.
The project "Your money, your city, your choice" was partly financed by the municipality of Nikšić in last year's public competition for NGOs, and its implementation aims to increase the interest of young people in active participation in the decision-making process concerning the environment and development in general. town.
