Playing sports and training in clubs that are financed from the budget must be free, said the mayor of Budva, Dragan Krapović.

In the work program, he stated that sports clubs cannot ask for money from the city coffers and at the same time charge membership fees.

"Practicing sports in clubs financed from the municipal coffers must be free. We must free sports from political influence. It is necessary to adopt a strategy for the development of sports in Budva. Build new sports grounds, develop sports tourism, build new halls, hiking and trim trails in the rural parts of the municipality," the program says.

The municipality annually allocates more than one million euros to 38 sports clubs, of which the most money, almost one million, went to the Mogren and Petrovac football clubs, and to the volleyball and water polo clubs.

Money was also paid for handball, basketball, gymnastics, karate, jiu-jitsu, gymnastics and many other clubs.

In all clubs, a membership fee of 10 to 40 euros is charged to children who train.

The municipality did not pass a decision on the distribution of money to sports clubs for last year, although the budget provided for an allocation of one million euros.

Krapović states that it is necessary to build a training ground for small sports and playgrounds for recreation.

"To build an adequate sports hall for children who attend the 'Danilo Kiš' Middle School, which does not have a physical education hall. Encourage the inclusion of children with special needs. Of course, we also have to improve the quality of hunting grounds in our municipality, as well as improve the position of professional fishing".

Krapović assessed that there are so many problems that they cannot be solved during one mandate, and on behalf of the new government, he promised to "work hard and dedicatedly in the interest of Budva and the generations to come".

"It is important that we think realistically and work cautiously, to stop the free fall of Budva and to bring the Municipality in small steps to a situation where it can finally start planning strategically, long-term and in the general interest".

He also plans to build a theater

Krapović emphasized that the goal of the new municipal government is to protect and restore the neglected cultural treasures of Budva.

"We have to depoliticize culture. Help young creators. Build a theater, a library and a reading room and a multi-purpose congress hall on the Luketić legacy. To change wasteful culture and cheap entertainment, to strengthen the creative sector and creative industries".
