The Union of High School Students of Montenegro (UNSCG), through the implementation of the High School Attitude project, encouraged this population to actively act and participate in the decision-making process in the fields of their interests, said the president of that organization, Jovan Bojović.

Today, at the press conference, he said that the Union implemented three projects and numerous activities this year, including the "High School Attitude" project, which is financed by the SHL foundation from Berlin.

"The main goal of the project, which we are implementing with the non-governmental organization Juventas, relates to strengthening the democratic potential of young people in Montenegro and their active participation in society, through the construction of a national umbrella organization composed of student parliaments from all Montenegrin high schools," said Bojović.

With this project, as he stated, UNSCG gave young people a "wind at their backs" and support for them to actively act and participate in the decision-making process in the fields of their interests in the coming period.

"As part of the project, the Second UNSCG General Assembly was held, where the new leadership of the Union was elected, which will lead the only high school organization in the country from March 2017," said Bojović.

According to him, the UNSCG has also started the implementation of the project "Establishment and strengthening of student parliaments" with which, as he explained, they are trying to visit as many high schools as possible and to form student parliaments where they do not exist, and where they do exist to strengthen them.

"In the first period of the 2016/17 school year. year, we visited 25 secondary schools. Also, we have achieved cooperation with two more schools, which gives us the task to achieve cooperation with the remaining two at the beginning of next year and in this way be a part of every secondary school, so that in each one a voice is heard that calls for involvement in activism and the fight for their own rights", said Bojović.

As he reminded, for the second year now, the Union of High School Students is implementing the competition for the best student parliament in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

"Last year, 27 secondary schools participated in the competition, which, according to our records, carried out 242 activities, 40 of which were covered by the media, and 44 experts from various fields were part of some of these numerous activities," specified Bojović.

According to him, one of the successes of UNSCG is that the Memorandum on cooperation with the Ministry of Education was signed last week.

"With that memorandum, we ensured the sustainability of the competition for the best student parliament for an enviable period of time and thus supported high school students to continue to be active and to show how much young people can actually do. This year, 34 schools were registered for the competition, significantly more than last year, which speaks of the quality of this competition," said Bojović.

With these data, as he said, UNSCG denies claims that high school students need motivation and that they are not active.

"On the contrary, high school students should be understood and given space. High school students will do the best for high school students, they will be active in other fields as well, not only in their fields of interest, if we give them a chance and if we recognize the potential in them that we can all benefit from," said Bojović.

The coordinator of the youth program of the NGO Juventas, Marija Stajović, assessed that the existence of an organization such as UNSCG in Montenegro can influence the improvement of the position of young people in society.

"The existence of such an organization can influence the improvement of the position of young people in every respect - when it comes to their activism, information or participation in the areas that concern them, but it can also influence the quality of education and provide professional help and support to high school students in realization of their rights and interests, i.e. solving problems", believes Stajović.

She said that in today's time, full of different challenges for a young man, by participating in the work of the Union, they develop true values such as, as she stated, friendship, solidarity, humanity, cooperation, honesty.

"The Union is a body that enables the voice of young people in our country to be heard, and this project is in a way proof that sometimes you only need a little encouragement, but also faith in young people in order to achieve really great results," Stajović pointed out.
