Microsoft is shutting down Messenger

After 15 years, on October 31, "Microsoft" will finally shut down its messaging service Messenger, and its users will switch to "Skype".

It used to be one of the main ways for people from all over the world to communicate, exchange photos and other content. However, Messenger failed to properly cope with the emergence of social networks and other forms of communication.

That's why "Microsoft" announced earlier that it will shut down Messenger and transfer its users to Skype, which it bought last year.

Portal The Verge reports that on October 31st, after 15 years, Messenger will finally be shut down.

Microsoft launched the service back in 1999 as a response to Aim, another messaging service.

Over time, "Microsoft" often threw away improvements to the service with additional content, such as the ability to put "smileys" in the text and play Minesweeper, and at the beginning of the millennium it became the world's leading chat service.
