Free opportunity for all elementary and high school students - open applications for the project "My Future STEM Occupation"

The company doMEn, the registrar of the Montenegrin national domain .ME, launched the socially responsible project "My future STEM profession" intended for young people aged 13 to 19.

Goal of a project "My future STEM profession" it is meet young people, primarily elementary and high school students, with STEM occupations and domestic companies dealing with new technologies and engineering.

This unique project, which was launched in Montenegro by the doMEn company, will provide young people with the opportunity to learn about different occupations and opportunities to build their career through educational content.

One of the challenges caused by the corona virus pandemic - the lack of fairs and conferences related to career development and employment, will try to be overcome with this educational content and include teenagers from all regions of Montenegro.

Young people would participate in such a way that during one day they would have the opportunity to visit a company or an expert from a STEM field and learn about his responsibilities and activities during that day.

At the end of the working hours, they have the opportunity to interview him and ask all the interesting questions that teenagers in that period may have, related to how to build a career in that field.

The organizers note that participation in the project is free, and that all costs will be covered for project participants.

Those who come from different regions to a certain company will be provided with transportation and all other expenses will be covered, and they encourage young people from all cities of Montenegro to join the project.

Predrag Lešić, the executive director of the doMEn company emphasizes: "The goal is to introduce as many of our young people as possible to what the future is and what is the basis of the sustainable development of every country - the development of the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics." We want to show them how they can build promising careers by studying and preparing for these fields, and we hope that with the project "My future STEM profession" we will inspire as many young people as possible to take this path."

The organizing team explains that they will company visits to be recorded and published in the form of interviews on the YouTube platform.

The video format was chosen because of its wide availability, as well as because it represents a medium that young people already use to acquire knowledge.

In addition, in the last few years, social networks have put an emphasis on video content, which means that material presented in this way would have the potential for greater reach than any other form that could be used to distribute information.

Anastasija Šovran got the opportunity to be the first participant in the project, who will show the young people what the project looks like, and what it was like for her visiting the architect Dijana Vučinić, the young people can see in the first published video in this project.

The project implementer is non-governmental association "Digitalizuj.Me" - a digital community that strives to help citizens and organizations in Montenegro to understand and take advantage of new opportunities for social change and business in the digital environment.

One of the founders of the association, Vladimir Vulić, points out: "I believe that choosing a career for every teenager is one of the concerns because they often do not have complete information about what certain occupations represent. If we add to that the fact that the labor market has changed tremendously in the last few years, the situation for our young people becomes even more complicated because they may wonder if certain occupations will even exist in a few years. We believe that in all of this, it is necessary to bring to the attention of young people what STEM occupations entail and how broad this field actually is, combining different knowledge and skills that will enable them to have a promising career."

The doMEn company has been making efforts for years to bring the concept of new technologies and the online world closer to Montenegrin society, especially young people, and thereby strengthen the local community.

In the past eleven years, as long as the company has existed, it has invested over one million euros in socially responsible activities.

In the period of the pandemic caused by the corona virus during 2020, helped the Montenegrin economy and health system with over 100.000 euros, and the same amount was committed to socially responsible activities that will be implemented in 2021.
