Elon Musk announced on Twitter that he intends to leave the position of the first man of the social network as soon as he "finds someone crazy enough" to replace him.
He added that he will focus on "software and servers" in the future.
The majority of participants in a poll organized by Elon Musk on Twitter on Monday voted for him to leave the leadership of the social network.
Of the more than 17 million network users who voted, 57,5 percent said that Musk should go.
Musk has clashed with some users on multiple issues, and he organized the survey after admitting he was wrong to announce new online restrictions banning mention of rival websites.
