San Francisco's city administration has removed Elon Musk's large, brightly lit "X" sign because it allegedly does not comply with the issued permits, reports Business Insider.
According to the media outlet, Musk installed the "blinding" sign, but did not first obtain permits from the San Francisco Department of Buildings.
Workers dismantled the large X logo on the roof of the headquarters in San Francisco, just two days after it was installed.
The sign was removed piece by piece.
Authorities notified the company on Friday that it was in violation of city regulations and requested access to the roof to inspect it — declaring it "probably unsafe," the media reported.
However, a Twitter representative told the inspector that the sign was "temporary" and commissioned for the event.
In a statement, San Francisco Department of Building Inspection spokesman Patrick Hannan explained:
"A building permit is required to ensure the sign is structurally safe".
He also told The Washington Post that in order to maintain "consistency with the historic nature of the building," a city permit is needed, reports N1.
