The Facebook and Instagram accounts of thousands of users in the United States (US) went down today, according to outage monitoring website Downdetector.com, Reuters reports.

There were more than 105.000 incidents where people reported problems with Facebook and over 70.000 with Instagram.

The outage started around 18:50 CET.

Vocap, Meta's messaging app, is also down by more than 12.000 users, according to Downdetector.com.

Meta did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
