Regarding the allegations published in the text "Tamara's operation will be paid for by the state" ("Vijesti", June 15, 2011), the Office of the Mayor of the Prijestonia Cetinje, Aleksandar Bogdanović, sent a response, which we are transcribing in full:

During the last few days, the local public, through several media outlets, became aware of the case of seriously ill five-year-old Tamara Jovović.

On that occasion, there was also speculation that the Capital of Cetinje did not respond to the requests of the Jovović family, who asked for help in order to send their minor daughter for treatment abroad, and that the Mayor of the Capital of Cetinje, Aleksandar Bogdanović, did not adequately respond to them, stating that "he did not answered, as if we don't exist".

We use this opportunity to inform the public that the aforementioned claim is credible in the part that the Capital of Cetinje received a request for help from five-year-old Tamara Jovović (registered under number 01-031/11-686-3), which was accompanied by appropriate medical documentation:

  • discharge list with epicrisis
  • echocardiographic findings (University Children's Clinic, Belgrade - cardiac surgery).

However, he states that Mayor Bogdanović, i.e. the authorities in the local administration, did not respond to that request, they do not correspond to the factual situation.

Namely, the Capital of Cetinje, as part of the social assistance program, sent financial aid to the Jovović family (Mayor's decision), in the name of helping their daughter Tamara.

Finally, we express the hope that we will all contribute to our minor fellow citizen receiving the necessary medical care as soon as possible, with the gratitude of the public who actively contributes to the achievement of that goal

This is the maximum amount of one-time assistance that the Capital City of Cetinje can send to persons in a state of social need.

It should also be emphasized that the Capital of Cetinje, for the purpose of continuous assistance to the Jovović family, used another available mechanism, when it comes to persons in a state of social need.

Immediately after the address, the local administration sent the Red Cross an initiative to send the Jovović family help in the form of a package of clothing, which was also implemented.

We would also like to point out that the Capital City of Cetinje is monitoring the situation regarding the treatment of the minor Tamara Jovović with particular attention, and that the local administration is ready to, as before, provide full support to the efforts for our minor fellow citizen to receive adequate medical treatment - both directly and mediation, that is, representing the case of the Jovović family with other entities.

Finally, we express the hope that we will all contribute to our minor fellow citizen receiving the necessary medical care as soon as possible, with the gratitude of the public who actively contributes to the achievement of that goal.
