Five-year-old Tamara Jovović, who is seriously ill, has the right to be operated abroad at the state's expense, doctor Vesna Miranović, who also treated the girl with a heart defect, confirmed to "Vijesta" yesterday.

The director of the Institute for Children's Diseases of the Clinical Center pointed out that she is the head of the Fund's committee that decides whether treatment abroad is necessary and that, according to regulations, the state would pay for Tamara's heart surgery in one of the European centers.

Miranović claims that it has never happened that the Health Fund does not bear the costs of treating children outside of Montenegro, if it is necessary.

"The procedure is simple. We have a contract with centers in Serbia. If they judge that they cannot perform an operation, help is requested from several foreign cardio centers to which we send a report. When we receive an answer, the Fund's commission, of which I am the president, will make a decision," explained Miranović.

Tamara's mother, Aleksandra Jovović, seemed surprised when "Vijesti" called her yesterday.

"We didn't know that," Jovović said, asking in amazement: "Does that mean it's best to take the child to Dr. Miranović"?

After the touching report by TV "Vijesti", 15 euros were paid for the treatment of a seriously ill five-year-old girl until yesterday at 2.800 pm.
