An adapted unit of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro has been opened in Kolašin, announced the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro (ZHMP).

"The unit was officially opened by the Director of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro Vuk Niković, State Secretary in the Ministry of Health Aleksandar Sekulić and President of the Municipality of Kolašin Petko Bakić. The Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro invested 36.246 euros including VAT in the adaptation and equipment of the unit , while a certain amount of money was donated by the Municipality of Kolašin", the announcement states.

Niković pointed out that the emergency room in Kolašin is the Institute's eighth adapted unit.

He added that the improvement of emergency medical care in Montenegro began in 2021, and it is planned that by the end of 2025, all emergency care units will be adapted and equipped with modern equipment.

"I hope that by that time we will have staff that will be able to cover and provide emergency medical assistance services to all citizens of Montenegro as well as tourists. I hope that by the end of June we will also open an emergency medical aid unit in Žabljak. We are a truist destination and a country that is in pre-accession negotiations with the European Union, so it is imperative that we improve and maintain the quality of emergency medical care in the country and bring it up to modern standards. Also, for the first time, citizens see and know where the money provided by the state ends up," emphasized Niković

State Secretary in the Ministry of Health of Montenegro, Aleksandar Sekulić, stated that Kolašin received the emergency assistance it deserves as an important tourist center of Montenegro.

"Today, Kolašin is getting a reconstructed health facility in which significant funds have been invested and which is now representative, built in accordance with the highest medical standards. The intention is to raise the entire infrastructure of public health institutions in Montenegro to a higher level, as well as health services. In this, we are also grateful to director Dr. Vuk Niković, who is making tremendous efforts to raise the level of health care services in emergency medical aid, as well as working conditions on the territory of the state," concluded Sekulić.

The official opening was also attended by the President of the Municipality of Kolašin, Petko Bakić, and the director of the Kolašin Health Center, Milan Marković.
