The opening of the adapted basketball court of the Resource Center for Children and Youth in Podgorica is just the beginning of the inclusion of children and persons with developmental disabilities in Montenegrin society, said the Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić.

As announced by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Šćekić, at the ceremonial opening of the adapted field, said that it is society's obligation to provide children and people with developmental disabilities the best conditions for their smooth functioning.

"The realization of this project is proof that together we can build a better and more beautiful future for all of us, especially for the most sensitive categories of the population," Šćekić said.

Adaptation of the Resource Center's field, as he said, was high on the agenda of projects of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

Šćekić thanked everyone who participated in any way in the realization of that project.

"Use the field in the best way. Play, train, enjoy every moment spent here. Let this be a place where you will always feel welcome, safe and inspired", said Šćekić.

Director of the Resource Center, Marijana Antonijević, said that the institution had been waiting for a long time for the sports field in their yard to get its current look.

"With the reconstruction of the sports field, we got better and safer conditions for our students to play sports," Antonijević said.

She thanked the Ministry of Sports and Youth and Šćekić for their efforts to give the field in the courtyard of the Resource Center its current appearance.

Antonijević also thanked the President of the Paralympic Committee of Montenegro, Ivan Tomić, for his contribution.

The Ministry of Sports and Youth financed the renovation of the basketball court, and the project included installing a tartan surface, replacing the basketball backboards and creating a long jump pit.

The Ministry said that the investment is worth 40 thousand euros.
