Montenegrin water polo player Vasilije Radović (21) will participate in the Olympic Games for the first time in his career.
"Sharks" have arrived in Paris, and Radović points out that the first impressions are phenomenal.
"We passed through the village, everything is beautiful. There are many athletes, but the most important thing is to stay focused, because we know why we came here. The Olympic Games are the most important competition, and therefore a great responsibility, this competition is different from the World and European Championships "We are physically ready, we have had strong preparations for two months. We have to be mentally ready for the upcoming matches," said Radović.
Montenegro opens the tournament on Sunday (16:35) against Croatia. The group also includes Italy, Greece, the USA and Romania.
"Never a more difficult group, never a stronger Olympic Games. Anyone can beat anyone. These are all strong teams. We have three or four victories against Croatia in major competitions. That victory against them in Dubrovnik was the most important for us. I hope that that tradition and continue, that we will play excellently," said Radović.
Selector Vladimir Gojković and member of the professional staff Miloš Šćepanović have a lot of experience when it comes to performing at the Olympic Games.
"They give us advice. They emphasized that when we enter the village, we should focus only on the matches. We came here to win all the matches, I believe in these guys that we can go far," concluded Radović.
This is the fifth appearance of "Sharks" at the Games.
"We managed to continue the tradition, we are the only team that qualified for the Games for the fifth time, and that says a lot," said Radović.
