The victory over Romania in the last round was only important so that the Montenegrin water polo players did not leave Paris with their heads down.
The Olympic Games ended for the "sharks", they were in ninth place, although the impression remained that a lot of things in the group could have been different - if only they recorded one triumph in two games in which they were defeated by five.
But nothing is accidental, Montenegro was ahead of the Romanians, and behind the Greeks, Italians, Croats and Americans.
"We were looking for a chance against Greece and Italy, everything was down to one ball there and we have a lot to regret in those duels. If we had won three points, I think it would have been a different match against the Americans", said the defender of our national team, Aljoša Mačić.
It is a harsh reality that Montenegro is not among the top eight.
"This is certainly a great experience for all of us. I am glad that in the last match against Romania we showed character and won. We deservedly celebrated, even though we didn't open the match well. We did our best and later we routinely did the job," Mačić pointed out.
