Denmark's handball players defeated Slovenia's national team 27:19 today in the first round of the group stage competition at the Olympic Games in Paris.
In the match, played the day before the official opening of the Olympic Games, the Danish women were better than the Slovenian women in both halves (14:11, 13:8).
The most effective in the Danish national team were Emma Fris and Trine Ostergard with five goals each, while Tjaša Stanko and Ana Gros scored the same amount for the Slovenian team.
Those national teams play in Group A, which also includes Germany, Norway, Sweden and South Korea, and the four best teams will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The Slovenian national team, led by Dragan Adžić, will play their next match on Sunday against South Korea, when Denmark will also play against Norway.
