The Olympic Games in Paris, which officially begin today, are the first in history to be completely gender balanced.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, 10.714 athletes will compete, of which 5.357 are men and the same number of women.
The number of female athletes decreases from Games to Games, so in Helsinki in 1952 there were only 10 percent, in Athens 2004, there were 40 percent and in Tokyo 2020, 48,8 percent.
